Brian Miller - Biography |
|
Since his teens, Brian has been involved with the world of modern jazz at the highest level as both keyboardist and composer. His earliest years were spent with the bands of Frank Ricotti and Harry Beckett touring Great Britain and Europe. From the mid-sixties he developed an interest in synthesizers, performing with such diverse groups as Isotope, Turning Point and Morrisey/Mullen, as well as working in Europe with Eberhard Weber's Colours. Throughout this period he was a regular performer at London's Ronnie Scott's club accompanying many American artistes including the late Eddie Harris and Toots Thielemans. He has also spent much of his time accompanying some of
Europe's best jazz vocalists including: Marian Montgomery (for whom he
was MD for over 15 years), Annie Ross (+MD), Selena Jones(+MD), Cleo Laine. During this time he was also very much involved with TV
and was a member of the regular bands appearing on '3-2-1',' Russ Abbot's
Madhouse' and 'Russell Harty Show' often also employed as the show's Musical
Associate. He spent 21 years as a member of the orchestra of 'CATS' but still found time to compose about 450 library titles, mainly for AEI/Rediffusion Music (the largest background music company in the world) and BTW Music as well as produce albums for his own company (Interspear Music). As well as leading his own small jazz ensembles, Brian performs
solo either at private or public venues. |
